Electric Enigma is a double album on which California-based artist Stephen P. McGreevy has documented recordings he made of Natural Radio - electromagnetic emissions in the very-low-frequency band caused by massive discharges and their after-effects in lightning storms and by the solar wind buffeting the earth's magnetic field, visible as Aurora Borealis and Australis. It would normally take long wires to pick up these emissions, which would hamper the mobility of a listener or recordist....

The second Irdial EP from Matt Cogger, aka Neuropolitique, its moods are intense, claustrophobic, exhilarating, energetic, nervous, frenetic and soulful, using deceptively simple motifs and repeated phrases to great effect.

The Electric Family is a supergroup that comes together to execute brief driven recording projects. For this, the first set of Electric Family releases, the brief was to compose a 5 minute piece using only the Nintendo Super Famicom game console, running the Mariopaint cartridge. Mariopaint is, as you would suspect, a paint program. It also has a triphonic sequencer that allows you to compose music on a stave. Modern recording studios, and even those found in the bedrooms of musicians the world...

This is a side project of Aqua Regia. There is only one release, called "EEP", which caused hysteria in Holland. It is a forerunner of "Treasure Trove Dance Music" that has come to prominence recently, raiding the rich history of dance music as its basis, and coadunating this with modern synth sequences. This had to be released under a separate name from Aqua Regia, since it is not house music, but an awesome hybrid of different styles. This theme would be carried on in the...

Morganistic was a project started by Luke Slater. This 12" also features studio owner and producer Doug Martin, who engineerd the early Aqua Regia sessions at his Chelesea Spike studio, and Alan Sage. The ethereal feel of the title piece, "Morganistic" immediatly appeals with its introspective piano, subsonic base and off kilter drum pattern. This is a "what can happen if we let it" piece of music, pointing to possibilities for exploration, and fertile destinations that...

The Ray Tracing project came about at the time of the Aqua Regia "The House Tribe" sessions. It is a mixture of tempos and textures, all distilled from a single sample recorded off air from the legendary pirate radio station Centerforce which was the co-ordinating power behind the rave scene circa 1989. Several iterations were produced, all distinctly different; a tour de force of synthesis, electric piano and furious drum machines flailing and slamming.

The first exponent of what could now be called "breakbeat disco", Aqua Regia was at the center of what was known as "Ambient House". These tracks date from the 2x12" vinyl 'Age Of Aqueous' EP from 1989.

Hainault's "Japan Inc." was inspired by an antique recording of Japanese hostesses playing a singing game with some clinets in a bar. The track was built around this, and many layers of samples were superimposed on the beat to make a thick, runaway train of relentlessly pounding house funk, with authentic Japanese opera percussion, and a dreamy "Float on" remix, which seduces and hypnotises the listener as it builds and falls. This "magpie manipulation", or...

Beautyon is is inspired by the inexplicable, convoluted and fabulous language of fashion. "Brown is the New Black", "Simplicity is in, Minimalism is out". These phrases, are part of the starting point of all Beautyon pieces. Beautyon deals in a wide range of textures and sonic fabrics. "Your Ignorance Makes Me Ill and Angry" is an album of "distractions" leached from the sessions that produced "Pendolino". Its moods and sonic pallette are deep...

"No02" is a complete departure into a 100% digital equivalent of Issey Miyaki's world of pleats, expressed in sound. It is shocking, brutal, and utterly beautiful.

Of Anthony Manning's releases on Irdial, the awe-inspiring "Islets in Pink Polypropylene" album continues to impress and bewilder with its intricacy, originality and emotion wrapped up in an organo-classical rigor that is unheard of in his contemporaries.

Dilemma specialzes in a type of music known as "Chip Tunes". These "Chip Tunes" are produced with the most ancient of equipment, or mondern emulations of ancient equipment. The sounds produced are of 8bit resoultion, sounding like the old C64 / Atari computer consoles. Marriying a modern sensibility with antique analogue sequencers, Dilemma produces "modern 8bit classics" that pulse and pound with an appreciation of the power of super amplification, whilst...

Clip Talk existed to create music for a compilation that appeared on the New Electronica label. There is one track to date, "Advanced Music Designs" which was a working title for a planned LP of grinding and rhythmic noise music, which has been delayed until further notice.

Matt Cogger is Neuropolitique. After spending 2 years living and working in Detroit for Transmat Records, Matt returned to England and began recording in 1989. Matt created a new breed of "Drum Machine Music" partially owing its form to the influential music that came from the city of Detroit.

Lee Purkis is InSync. Lee was one of the founding owners of the legendary and influential shop Fat Cat Records. His releases are highly sought after classics. 'Storm', the first InSync release on Irdial-Discs, is the most requested 12" in our catalogue. Others had been offered the tape of this masterpiece, but refused to consider releasing it because "...the qwalit'ee wuddnt be gud enuf inaaat..." (it was mastered onto cassette). We of course realized that many of the revered and...
